Check out, Seven Job Prospects for Studying Electrical Engineering!

Electrical Engineering is one of the oldest engineering fields and is the parent of several other fields. However, many people don’t know about the job prospects of graduates. So, listen to the explanation by Lecturer in Electrical Engineering, Nusa Putra University (NPU) Sukabumi, Marina Artiyasa regarding the seven job prospects for Electrical Engineering graduates.

Firstly, according to Marina, in oil and energy companies, Human Resources (HR) graduates of electrical engineering are widely used in electronic instrumentation monitoring and control systems. “Oil and energy companies that receive a lot include Pertamina, Shell, or PLTUs in Indonesia,” said Marina.

Furthermore, according to him, electrical engineering graduates are also in demand by telecommunications companies, their duties include electrical engineering, supervisor drafting auto cad for fiber optic networks or monitoring Base Transceiver Station (BTS).

Third, industrial companies that use automation for their machines. According to him, in this sector electrical engineering graduates are much needed, their work is generally to monitor industrial equipment, which is related to electricity and automation. “In Indonesia there are Kratingdaeng, Yakult, Indolacto and other companies,” he explained.

Fourth, the state electricity company, many electrical engineering graduates are aiming to work in this state-owned company. “What’s the job, especially if it’s not dealing with electricity in Indonesia,” said Marina.

Furthermore, electrical engineering graduates, continued Marina, can work in institutions or research bodies. According to him, electrical engineering graduates can work at the Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI), the Agency for the Study and Application of Technology (BPPT) or other similar institutions. “There is an electrical engineering graduate from Nusa Putra University who is already working at BPPT, he works in the fuel technology and design engineering section,” he said.

Then sixth, if electrical engineering graduates choose not to work, according to Marina, they can also choose to become teaching staff, they can become teachers, instructors or electronics lecturers. “To become a lecturer, of course you have to first continue your studies to Masters level,” he explained.

Finally, Marina added, electrical engineering graduates can choose to be self-employed, this can be done by opening electronics repair services, microcontroller-based electronic system manufacturing services, Programmable Logic Control (PLC) and electronic component providers. “In Indonesia, the largest number is electronic service,” he said.
